The Professional Pilot Leadership Initiative (PPLI) aims to accelerate the advancement of women in all pilot professions, facilitate dynamic mentoring, and enhance our leadership role in the aviation community. The program provides highly motivated 99s with the tools to develop their careers and leadership abilities. Through guided activities and formal mentoring partnerships, it strengthens and expands the network of women pilots.
This highly-structured, formal leadership and mentoring program is unique. The mentor and mentee will communicate on a weekly basis to discuss the mentoring prompts and guided activities. Participants must commit to meeting the program expectations for the entire duration of the 18-24 month program.
If you are a 99s member with at least a commercial certificate (and be actively flying) pursuing a professional pilot career, or you are an established professional who wants to take your career to the next level, this program is designed for you. Please read the Fact Sheet for a listing of the program requirements.
Who Are The Ninety-Nines?
The Ninety-Nines was founded November 2, 1929, at Long Island, New York. All 117 women pilots at the time were invited to assemble for mutual support, the advancement of aviation and to create a central office to keep files on women in aviation. Those early purposes continue to guide the organization today, with 7,000 female pilot members around the world.
Non-pilots, or male pilots, can join to support the organization as a Friends of The Ninety-Nines.
