Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship Fund (AEMSF) is an endowed fund presently exceeding $6 million dollars. The Fund provides significant scholarship assistance to women pilots and student pilots who are members of the Ninety-Nines, Inc. The AEMSF has awarded well over $13 million in scholarships to over 1200 women pilots.

  • First Wings Awards of up to $6000 are paid for milestones toward achieving an initial rating, including the FAA writing exam, first solo, the long cross country and the check ride.
  • Flight Training Scholarships for completing advanced pilot certifications, ratings, or pilot training courses are available. The AEMSF scholarship pays for the total cost of training up to $20,000.

    Some of those ratings include commercial, instrument, multi-engine, seaplane, flight instructor, emergency maneuver training, various type ratings, APT/CPT courses, and more.

  • Academic Scholarships are available for members enrolled in college flight training programs which lead to an aviation degree.

  • Research Scholar Grants are available for advanced research into areas investigating women’s role in aviation or historical research related to women pilots.

Section and Chapter Scholarships

Scholarships are a major benefit of joining the Ninety-Nines, helping our members achieve and progress in their aspirations. 

With over 150 chapters across the United States and Canada, and 17 sections around the world, chapter and section scholarships play a pivotal role in advancing women pilots through education and support.

Many of The Ninety-Nines Chapters and Sections offer scholarships in varying amounts with different criteria.
